Dave Matthews Band began some time in 1990, in Charlottesville, VA - also home of the University of Virginia and Thomas Jefferson. They have had a nearly-steady lineup since then (original keyboardist Peter Griesar left the band in 1993) and since forming, have had the ups and downs typical of a famous band.

The band started out touring very heavily, playing local clubs in Charlottesville and nearby Richmond weekly for nearly four years, while allowing bootleg recordings of their shows to be traded by fans, assuming no profit be made. It is said that this practice led to DMB's rise to stardom.

One of the band's Richmond performances was partially recorded for their EP, Remember Two Things.

LeRoi Moore died in August 2008, due to complications stemming from an ATV accident. Out of respect, he will remain under band members. His replacement, Jeff Coffin, will be listed under "other personnel".
