Filesharing HOWTO

This is a short HOWTO manual for how to do filesharing. That means downloading software, movies and music. If you think it's right (or wrong) by Hollywood to steal money from us and spy on us to stop us from sharing files with our 10 000 closest friends, then debate it on Filesharing propaganda.

Bittorrent

1) Get a bittorrent client:
http://www.bittorrent.com/
http://www.utorrent.com/
The Opera browser (www.opera.com) has a bittorrent client built in.

2) Find the torrent-files. Recommended sites:
www.mininova.com (if you're looking for a special category of stuff)
http://thepiratebay.org/ (An alternative to the one above. Also great for sharing stuff you have made!)
http://btjunkie.org/ (If you can't find it on the sites above.)
www.tvtorrents.com (Great for TV-series, but only TV-content. Much faster download and organization than the sites above. You need an invitation though. Write your email to [Hedda] and I might be able to send you one (There are limits on how much I can invite))

3) Let the free information destroy your life... Or actually learn something by downloading documentaries like I, [Hedda], do.

Other ways?

No, you should use bittorrent. It's the best way at the moment. If you're of a different opinion, please let me know, but you have to give some really convincing arguments because it's probably just you who can't use bittorrent.

Warnings

If you download programs, you should know the source of it. Otherwise you might get viruses and trojans. And you should always have an updated movie and music player! (I use Mplayer, www.mplayerhq.hu which is the best program for Linux, but it works on Windows too. There might be better programs for Windows, but then I suggest you ask on Tech Support or something.)

In Denmark, Turkey or China?

2008-02-04 a Danish court has judged that it's illegal for ISPs to allow access to ThePirateBay (bluntly ignoring free speech, EU-rules and general sanity). If you're having problem accessing ThePirateBay.org follow one of the instructions on http://thejesperbay.org/ and more exactly on http://thejesperbay.org/index.php?page=ajaxswitch&content=three (In Danish, but the images are pretty understandable anyway).
