Yūhi Kurenai is the one in charge of Genin Team 8 (which consists of Inuzuka Kiba, Aburame Shino and Hyūga Hinata). Relatively little is known about her, only that she has just recently become a Jōnin. She cares a lot for her students and seems to be romantically involved with her fellow Jōnin Sarutobi Asuma, having blushed when Kakashi suggested a connection.

During her brief battle with Uchiha Itachi and Hoshigaki Kisame, she used her strongest skill, Genjutsu , against Itachi. However, they were easily countered by his Sharingan.

Trivia

The name "Yūhi" means "evening sun" and "Kurenai" means "crimson".

According to Anime News Network, the English voice actor for Kurenai will do Orochimaru when he is disguised as a Grass Ninja.
