The People I Play

Laine Artigl’i
Game System: D&D 3.5 (Monday Nights)
Class: Ranger
Age: 27 (apparent: 23)
Race: Half-elf (apparent: human)
Hair: Long wavy brown
Eyes: Emerald green
Height: 5’7”
Weight: 125 lbs
Distinctive Traits: Laine always has her hawk with her, usually flying overhead to spot potential enemies.
Merits: Resourceful, skilled, independent, intelligent.
Flaws: Unpredictable, amnesiac, naïve…

A dangerous warrior of elvish decent two generations back, Laine was found wandering near the Vaathwood. She’s since been taken into the White Tower, where a cleric was assigned to help her get her memory back. Thrust into this odd company of warriors, Laine keeps mostly to herself, except where Melanie is concerned, because Melanie has earned her respect as a warrior. Laine is very skilled in the use of her bow, and she always tries to protect innocents. She’s a nice girl, a bit naïve, but usually able to easily recover from her mistakes. Laine originally left on a quest to find her father, and since her return to the Vaathwood, she’s found all her friends and family have vanished, and that vampiric elves have taken over the city, especially at night. She’s secretly very frightened by everything that’s happened, and as more and more of her memory returns, her sanity is threatened by the sheer horror of the things she can recall from the two years of memories and missing information.

Rhistel Nym’el Adworeth
Game System: D&D 3.5 - Pathfinder (Tuesday Nights)
Class: Druid
Age: 32 (apparent: 17)
Race: Half-elf (apparent: ice elf)
Hair: Straight platinum blonde (almost white)
Eyes: Emerald green
Height: 5’11”
Weight: 120 lbs
Distinctive Traits: Her skin is very pale, and has an almost blueish-purple tint to it. It’s cool to the touch, as though her temperature runs at a constant 10 degrees below normal. As such, Rhi is very sensitive to heat, so much that it makes her sick. She wears some special clothing in summer to survive, charmed by her father.
Merits: Resourceful, skilled, independent, intelligent.
Flaws: Cynic, selfish, sometimes unreliable.

A half elf of ice decent, in her mind she’s not human, and truth be told, she has a difficult time thinking like one. She possesses a very intelligent mind, wise in the ways of nature, but she has a hard time understanding why human-kind does the things it does, all in the name of progress. Rhi carries little but her druidic staff and her own morals. Many misinterpret her quiet ways as weakness or shyness, but in truth, she prefers to listen and observe, rather than talk. When she does speak, she does so with such eloquence that she can calm even the beasts of the wilds, let alone a mere mortal. She tends to treat those who do come around her with mild contempt in her mind, and since she’s quite unpredictable, no one can be sure of her loyalty, not even those who have paid a good amount of coin to purchase just that…

Alyssa d’Lyrandar, aka. Tempest
Game System: Shadowrun 4.0 (Friday Nights)
Class: Gunslinger Adept
Age: 17
Race: Elf
Nationality: Sioux
Hair: Black
Eyes: Black
Height: 5’9”
Weight: 120 lbs
Distinctive Traits: Tempest sports a biohazard tattoo on her lower back, and dresses in traditional Soix clothing. She is also missing the tip of her right ear.
Merits: Highly skilled, highly disciplined, exotically beautiful.
Flaws: Highly uncouth and tactless, naïve, tecno-phobe.

Alyssa was born in Cheyenne, of the Sioux Nation. Born Alyssa Chayton (meaning falcon), she was the first elf to show up in her family line, and she changed her surname to d’Lyrandar as soon as she was of age. She was teased and bullied a lot as a child, made fun of for her lower weight and odd looks. Three weeks from her seventh birthday, one of the boys in her class thought it might be a good idea to trim her ears. He snuck a knife into school, waited until the teacher had to leave the room, and from the desk behind her he cut off the tip of her right ear. Hurt, scared, and angered all at once, Alyssa astounded her classmates with impressive speed and strength as she threw her desk to the side and stood up in one fluid motion. The teacher came back in to find the girl’s hair whipping around her as though moved by an unfelt wind, while she systematically beat the boy with strength beyond her years.

After that incident, Alyssa was swiftly tested for magic, at which point she was found to have inherited a family trait passed down through the females of her line for several generations; Alyssa was one of the awakened. She was immediately put into intense training to learn to control her power, but when the still young girl refused to communicate with her instructors, she was sent on her Vision Quest - 13 years before her classmates would make their own. After a grueling seven days without food or water, Alyssa came to realize that whatever she accomplished would be obtained through self-development under the guidance of the Great Spirit. An Eagle came to visit with her, and it told her that she had a strong will, and would be successful if she used it wisely. When she stumbled back into the city, dirty and dazed, Alyssa carried a rock shaped like an Eagle, and a determined glint in her eyes. The Eagle tradition would become her life.

No longer did she fight her instructors, and as she focused and trained with everything she had, some of the memories of her old classmates’ cruelty faded. However, the memory of that one boy’s violent racism remained. Alyssa trained to the point of exhaustion, often refusing food or drink while she mastered a new ability. She became a loner, not bothering to learn social niceties in her quest for personal perfection. Alyssa trained with her body first, becoming a master at Sioux martial style, and later with guns, learning to make them a perfect extension of herself. Now 17, Alyssa has passed her most difficult Ordeal yet to get her fourth initiate level – deed. Deemed able to make a living for herself, and too advanced for further instruction, Tempest was let loose on the Runner world, where she quickly earned this nickname because of the deadly storm of bullets she lets loose on her marks.
