The Warrior’s Son

Bathed in shadow, yet walking through the light,
Handsomely deadly, this creature of the night.
Flaring blue eyes watch from darkness as people walk by,
Sitting without a sound, lending a hand to those who cry.
The eternal guardian, the protector of those he loves,
He shields them from harm, of pain and of knives.
Silver rings shimmer like stars upon his hand,
Never to be parted, together until the end.
This man, born in city, born in wild,
Never to be captured, a creature and a child.
Look upon this creature with both awe and fear,
The protector of his loved ones,
The destroyer of those who get too near.

What is Hell?
When I child walks up to you and asks you what hell is, what do you think?
Is it fire and brimstone with demons lurking within the shadows like ghosts?
Is it just for those who do not believe in the exact same god as you do?
Do all bad people go there while the good move peacefully on to heaven?
Does a good soul ever end up within its torture by some freak accident?
Does praying really give you a free pass into heaven as if you did nothing?
How is it that you know what hell is if you have never journeyed into its depths?
Did you ever stop and think maybe, just maybe this is hell and we do not know?
Maybe it is not how strong your faith is, but instead how deep your love,
How kind you are to others, and how you help others that makes you a good person...
Maybe, just maybe, there is no hell except for the one we create for our own peace.

The arms of a loved one
I am shielded by the arms of my loved ones, protected from the winds of pain,
Nurtured by their years of knowledge so that my life shall never be in vain.
Embraced within their soothing warmth I know I am loved and love in return,
As I am held closely I feel nothing else, no anger, pain, fear, or single yearn.
I feel accepted as they sing songs to me that I do not completely understand,
And they say that one day within the future I will make a good father and man.
My loved ones will always care deeply for me and never leave my side,
They will always hold me tightly both when I am happy and when I cried.
