The showing is Sunday, Dec. 23 (9:00-11:00 PM,ET/PT).

Here are highlights from the CBS press release:

"IN GOD'S NAME, a CBS Primetime special produced in
association with the acclaimed French filmmakers Jules
and Gedeon Naudet, will explore the complex questions
of our time through the intimate thoughts and beliefs of
12 of the world's most influential spiritual leaders. These
diverse and powerful voices offer provocative, compelling
and enlightening perspective on myriad issues in our
post-9/11 world, including the rise of terrorism, fanaticism,
intolerance and war. The two-hour special will be broadcast
Sunday, Dec. 23 (9:00-11:00 PM,ET/PT) on the CBS
Television Network."

- Amma (Mata Amritanandamayi), a Hindu spiritual leader

- Ayatollah Muhammad Hussein Fadlallah, a prominent
Shi'ite Muslim leader
- Bishop Mark Hanson, Presiding Bishop of the Evangelical
Lutheran Church in America and President of the Lutheran
World Federation
- Michihisa Kitashirakawa, Jingu Daiguji (High Priest) of
the Shinto Grand Shrine of Ise
- Yona Metzger, Ashkenazi Chief Rabbi of Israel
- Dr. Frank Page, President of the Southern
Baptist Convention
- Muhammad Sayyed Tantawi, Sheikh of Al-Azhar and a
prominent Sunni Muslim leader
- Joginder Singh Vedanti, Jathedar of the Akal Takht, the
Sikhs' highest authority
- Dr. Rowan Williams, Archbishop of Canterbury and head

If I had TV I would watch that program, Mata Amritanandamayi is one of the people they are going to talk to, I've been doing volunteer work for her for a long time. I'm glad [~*Astarte*~] and her son got to meet her in Nov :)

2007-12-27 [~*Astarte*~]: I watched "In God's Name" and was amazed. Tears filled my eyes many times. At the end, one of the producers of the documentary stated that in the end, he came to this one (of many) conclusion: "Religion is seeking the truth."

And just for the record, of the twelve Spiritual Leaders interviewed - not one, and I mean not one, said that anywhere in their religious teachings does it state that to kill in the name of God is okay. My brain is still healing, and there were so many quotes I wanted to remember ... my hope is the documentary will come out on DVD, and I will get to watch it again.

I've been falling in love with the gal of my dreams and been having tons of fun making jams, wines, meads, candies & sorbets out of my favorite summer harvests (black berries, peaches, plums, pears, straw berries, apples, elderberries and grapes) Yum!
